Greetings, and welcome to Wells Fargo Arena for ASU women’s basketball. Tonight, the Lady Devils play host to the Cal Poly Mustangs in the first game of the ASU Classic. New Mexico and Lamar are the other two teams in the field, and will face off after the ASU game.

Here are the starting lineups for both teams:
Cal Poly: Kayla Griffin, Rachel Clancy, Desiray Johnston, Abby Bloetscher and Carolina Reeves
ASU: Dymond Simon, Janae Fulcher, Markisha Patterson, Kimberly Brandon and Tenaya Watson
*Injury update: ASU forward Becca Tobin is not playing tonight. She has a boot on her right foot. Not sure how serious the injury is.
First Half
18:10- ASU is off to a quick start, scoring seven straight points while shutting out Cal Poly.
17:14- Cal Poly head coach Faith Mimnaugh calls timeout, with ASU up 11-0. The Lady Devils are 5-of-9 from the floor.
16:34- The tradition at Wells Fargo Arena is for the fans to stand up until the opposing team scores its first points. The crowd is able to sit down three and a half minutes into the game, as Cal Poly finally gets on the board.
15:47- We’ve reached the first media timeout of the half, with ASU up 15-2. Kimberly Brandon leads ASU with six points on 3-of-4 shooting.
12:57- It’s been over three minutes since ASU last scored, but Cal Poly hasn’t taken advantage, trailing 15-6.
12:27- Markisha Patterson, probably reading this live blog, ends the drought with a nice 15-foot j, putting ASU up 17-6.
11:48- We’ve reached the under-12 timeout, and ASU leads 17-8.
9:17- Cal Poly has outscored ASU 11-4 over the last seven minutes of the game, cutting what was an 11-point deficit to just four. Charli Turner Thorne calls timeout, with the Lady Devils up, 17-13.
7:50- Timeout on the floor, and Cal Poly has cut ASU’s lead to two, now down 19-17.
5:17- ASU responds with a little 5-0 run, now up 24-17 as we close in on the end of the first half.
3:32- We’ve reached the final media timeout of the half, and ASU still leads 19-17.
0:00- ASU closes the half on a 16-2 run is up 35-19. Kimberly Brandon leads the Lady Devils with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Neither team shot the ball well, with ASU going 36% compared to Cal Poly’s 24%. ASU has 15 turnovers, while Cal Poly had 16.
Second Half
16:20- Both teams shooting the ball well to start the second half. Cal Poly is fighting to stay in the game, now down 42-33, as Charli Turner Thorne calls timeout.
14:32- Cal Poly has cut the deficit to single-digits, now trailing 47-38.
11:44- We’ve reached the under-12 timeout, with ASU up 54-40.
10:48- The few ASU students who are here are giving Cal Poly coach Faith Mimnaugh a hard time as she is complaining to the refs for lack of foul calls. Given how she reacted, I’m not sure she’s heard much trash talk from students in her career.
New Mexico’s women’s team just went back to the locker room after watching some of the game. The Lady Lobos will face Lamar after this game is over.
9:52- The Lady Devils have responded to Cal Poly’s surge with a 13-4 run, and now lead 60-42.
7:46- ASU is up 60-46 at the under-8 timeout.
3:33- We’re at the final media timeout of the game, as ASU looks to close out the win, up 64-51. Kimberly Brandon has 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Lady Devils.
2:26- Cal Poly is shooting 13-of-20 (60%) in the second half and has a chance to make this interesting in the final couple minutes. Coach Mimnaugh calls timeout and the Mustangs will have the ball, down 64-55.
1:38- The Mustangs come out of the timeout and hit a three-pointer, but Tenaya Watson responds with a three of her own for ASU to keep its lead at 9, 67-58.
0:00- ASU holds on to win the game, 69-58. The Lady Devils improve to 4-2 and will face either New Mexico or Lamar tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. mountain time.
