About a third of the student section cleared out at halftime. ASU had a rough first half of play, so let’s see what the second half has in store.
NAU has the ball at its 15-yard line to start the second half.
12:55- ASU forces an NAU three-and-out and takes over at its own 32-yard line.
11:39- Steven Threet throws his second interception of the game, as NAU takes over at the ASU 42-yard line. Threet hasn’t been too sharp, thus far.
11:32- A pass interference penalty puts NAU at the Sun Devil 27-yard line. The penalties are mounting up for ASU (8 for 65 yards).
9:14- Matt Myers makes a 37-yard field goal as NAU cuts ASU’s lead to 17-13.
7:13- Couple of NAU players shaken up: defensive lineman Blayne Anderson and defensive back Darren Watson. Both players were able to walk off the field on their own power.
5:53- The Sun Devils get the ball inside the NAU 10, but fail to punch it in the endzone. Thomas Weber makes a 27-yard field goal to give ASU a 20-13 lead.
5:43- NAU returns the ensuing kickoff to the 21-yard line.
4:01- The ASU defense steps up, forcing NAU to punt. Sun Devils regain possession on their 29-yard line.
3:51- On the first play of the drive, Steven Threet connects with T.J. Simpson for a 62-yard gain. A personal foul penalty on NAU gives the Sun Devils the ball at NAU’s four-yard line.
3:37- Cameron Marshall bull dozes his way into the endzone, giving ASU a 27-13 lead.
1:50- A couple of ASU penalties have allowed NAU to continue its drive. Ball at midfield. ASU has ten penalties for 90 yards.
1:07- Yet another penalty on ASU, and now NAU has the ball on the Sun Devil 39-yard line.
0:21- The penalties come back to bite ASU, as Michael Herrick connects with Khalil Paden for a 35-yard touchdown pass. Devils up 27-20.
One more quarter to go, as ASU leads 27-20 after the third.
