Greetings, and welcome to Wells Fargo Arena for the 2010-2011 Arizona State Women’s Basketball season opener. Tonight, the Lady Devils take on the Northern Arizona Lady Lumberjacks.
ASU is looking to bounce back from last season’s 18-14 record that snapped a streak of five consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.
Pregame
I haven’t been to too many women’s game, but maybe I should start coming to more just to listen to the pregame playlist. I’m very impressed with it so far. Some of the songs include Blowin Money Fast by Rick Ross, Black and Yellow by Wiz Khalifa, and Fancy by Drake and T.I. Quality songs. I recommend you check them out if you’re into hip-hop and rap.
There is a pretty good crowd on hand. The lower bowl is decently full.

First Half

9:54: NAU finally ends its drought, as Amy Patton makes ONE free throw to make it 27-3 ASU.
8:49: Timeout on the floor, with ASU up 28-3.
7:39: We’ve reached the under-8 timeout. ASU leads 28-6.
3:59: Final media timeout of the half. ASU leads 33-10.
ASU has struggled from the free throw line, converting on just 11-of-20 attempts.
0:00: We’ve reached the end of the first half of play, with ASU leading 42-12.
Second Half
15:53: First media timeout of the second half. ASU leads 48-17.
I’m sitting courtside for this game. The one perk? How about a nice close up view of the ASU cheerleaders doing their thing.
12:31: ASU leads 56-21. Really the only thing Coach Charli Turner Thorne can complain is about is the poor free throw shooting, The team is just 18-of-34 from the charity stripe.
11:51: We’ve reached the under-12 timeout, as ASU leads 57-21.
10:48: The Lady Devils are now 20-of-38 from the free throw line.
9:04: Charlie Turner Thorne takes a 30-second timeout, with ASU leading 59-25.
6:14: Timeout on the floor, with ASU up 63-31.
3:26: Final media timeout of the game. Charlie Turner Thorne will put in some of the subs after the break. ASU leads 73-33.
Random note of the night: Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves just hit a 3-pointer, and now has 31 points and 31 rebounds. I immediately regret not drafting him in my fantasy basketball draft.
