Greetings, and welcome to Wells Fargo Arena for ASU women’s basketball. Today, the Lady Devils take on the New Mexico Lady Lobos in the tournament final of the ASU Classic. Let’s see if the ASU ladies can defeat New Mexico, something the men’s team could not do.

*Injury update- ASU senior forward Becca Tobin, who sat out yesterday’s game with a strained tendon in her foot, is dressed and participating in warmups. All indications point to her playing.

Here are today’s starting lineups

New Mexico: Tina Doughty, Lauren Taylor, Porche Torrance, Amanda Best and Jessica Kielpinski

ASU: Dymond Simon, Markisha Patterson, Kimberly Brandon, Becca Tobin and Tenaya Watson

There is a good amount of New Mexico fans here, by the way.

First Half

15:56- Very boring game thus far. The only points of the game came on a Jessica Kielpinski layup. Lobos lead 2-0.

14:53- ASU finally scores its first points of the game, thanks to a Janae Fulcher layup. We’re all tied at 2.

11:48- We’ve reached the under-12 timeout, and New Mexico leads 7-2. ASU has really struggled early on, shooting a woeful 1-of-14 from the floor.

8:29- Tenaya Watson is trying to spark the team, completing a three-point play to make it a 9-5 game.

7:29- New Mexico leads ASU 11-7 at the under-8 timeout. ASU is just 2-of-19 from the floor.

6:55- Dymond Simon ties the game at 11 with a nice floater in the lane. Lady Devils on a 9-2 run.

3:46- Final media timeout of the half, and New Mexico leads ASU 13-11.

3:06- ASU takes its first lead of the game, thanks to a Dymond Simon layup. The Lady Devils are on a 13-4 run since trailing 9-2 early in the game.

0:40- Dymond Simon is on fire, having scored the last 10 points for ASU, which is now on a 14-0 run and up 23-13.

0:00- ASU closes the first half on a 14-2 run and leads New Mexico 25-15.

Simon leads ASU with 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting. ASU as a whole shot 9-of-33 (27%).

Second Half

18:21- Markisha Patterson is slow to get up after colliding with a New Mexico player. She walks off the court on her power, however, and Alex Earl takes her place. ASU up 29-15.

17:16- The ASU fans can finally sit down, as New Mexico scores its first points of the half on a Porche Torrance layup. Lady Devils up 29-17.

15:25- We’ve reached the first media timeout of the second half, with ASU up 35-17.

12:48- Both teams going through a bit of a scoring drought. The score remains 35-17.

7:47- ASU leads New Mexico 46-24 at the under-8 timeout.

5:35- Charli Turner Thorne puts in a fresh set of players with ASU up comfortably, 49-29.

3:48- ASU is up by 21 points, but the fans are still into it as they’re complaining over a block call they felt should have been a charge. Final media timeout of the game, and it’s all ASU, up 52-31.

0:00- It’s all over. ASU wins 55-40. The Lady Devils win the ASU Classic Tournament, and will have a week off before playing host to Colorado State next Saturday.
