Greetings, and welcome inside Wells Fargo Arena for the Territorial Cup, basketball edition, featuring the Arizona Wildcats and the Arizona State Sun Devils. This is the final meeting between the two schools, as Arizona won the game in Tucson last month, 80-69.

The Wildcats (20-4, 9-2) have won five games in a row, are first in the Pac-10, and are ranked 16th in the country. The Sun Devils (9-14, 1-10) are last in the Pac-10 and have lost nine conference games in row. ASU’s current record is its worst since Herb Sendek’s first season in Tempe.

There’s certainly a great atmosphere here. There’s a good amount of U of A fans, but not as many as I thought given the team’s #16 ranking.

Here are tonight’s starting lineups

Arizona: Lamont Jones, Kyle Fogg, Derrick Williams, Jesse Perry, Solomon Hill

Arizona State: Jamelle McMillan, Ty Abbott, Kyle Cain, Rihards Kuksiks and Trent Lockett

First Half

17:02- Jamelle McMillan has shot extremely well from three-point land over the last two games, and he continues with his first three. Rihards Kuksiks adds another one to give ASU a 6-2 lead.

15:14- First media timeout of the half, and ASU leads 8-7. Trent Lockett will be at the line to complete a potential three-point play after the break. Arizona’s Derrick Williams is making his presence felt down low, so Herb Sendek has used Jordan Bachynski to counter for size.

10:36- Herb Sendek calls timeout, as ASU is down 20-15. Arizona is on a 7-0 run.

9:41- We’ve reached the under-12 timeout, and Arizona leads 20-17. Kyle Fogg and Jordin Mayes have combined for 15 of UA’s 20 points. Derrick Williams has been held relatively in check, with two points and three rebounds.

6:25- Timeout on the floor, and UA extends its lead to 28-20. The Wildcats are on a 15-5 run over the last nine minutes. UA is 8-of-19 from the floor, while ASU is 8-of-21.

3:54- Final media timeout of the half, and UA leads ASU 30-20. The Sun Devils are struggling to get anything going on offense, now 8-of-24 from the floor.

0:00- Halftime, and UA leads ASU 34-24. Kyle Fogg has 13 points to lead the Wildcats, while Jamelle McMillan leads ASU with 7 points.

Second Half

18:23- Sluggish start to the half, but Jesse Perry drills a three to put UA up 37-24. Herb Sendek calls timeout to try to avoid this one from getting away.

17:33- Perry completes a three-point play to put UA up 40-24. Wildcat fans starting to get loud.

15:26- First media timeout of the half, and UA leads 43-28. Back-to-back hoops from Kyle Cain and Trent Lockett put the Sun Devils back within 15 after trailing by 19.

11:30- UA has one field goal over the last five minutes, and ASU has taken advantage, going on a 10-2 run to cut what was a 19 point deficit to 11.

9:09- Sean Miller calls a timeout after Jesse Perry hits a layup to put UA up 51-39. Give the Sun Devils credit, they are still battling. Jamelle McMillan is in double-figures for the fourth straight game, the longest streak in his career.

7:39- Timeout on the floor, and no change in score. UA still leads 51-39.

5:06- ASU got within 10, but UA responds with a 6-0 run to go up 57-41, and Herb Sendek calls timeout. Sun Devil fans starting to file out.

3:33- Final media timeout of the game, and UA leads ASU 59-45. Trent Lockett will be at the line to shoot two free throws after the break.

1:50- Herb Sendek calls timeout after a Keala King layup cuts UA’s lead to 62-50. The Sun Devils have four freshman along with Ruslan Pateev out on the court.

0:00- Final score: UA 67, ASU 52. The Sun Devils fall to 9-15 overall, and 1-11 in Pac-10 play. They will host Washington this Thursday.
