SCOREBOARD: ASU loses 2-3 against No. 20 Oregon

5th set: UO wins this one 15-12 over ASU.

Meyers with kill to make it 12-14

Watson calls the ASU timeout trailing 11-13   ASU has to come out firing here if it wants a win!

We switch sides and ASU strikes for a point, 7-8 now

Teslevich serves it out of bounds to give UO 8-6 lead

ASU only trails by one now, 6-7, thus a timeout from Duck’s coach Jim Moore

Watson calls timeout down 2-5

Ducks off to a 3-0 start, before Pinson’s kill gets ASU on the board in the final set.

4th set: ASU ties this match at 2-2 after an incredible 25-16 set four win by the ladies in white, maroon, and even a little gold.

ASU is total control of this 4th set, firing on all cylinders with everyone doing something well on the court,

Ducks not quite rolling over yet down six at this point

Big time momentum on ASU’s side at this point, Can the team run with it? We’ll find out soon

Alexis Pinson continues to play well for ASU, another kill from the walk on out of Phoenix Xavier Prep.

3rd set: Marquardt’s beautiful kill gives ASU the 25-20 set win.  Jenny Teslevich with a few incredible kills for the Sun Devil defense.

Moore calls another timeout now that ASU leads 22-20, great opportunity to surge ahead here for ASU

A net call against UO ties this set at 20-20! Thank you ref!

Ducks take the 20-19 lead prompting a Watson timeout for ASU!

Highmark sets Marquardt for a nice kill, 17-15, UO coaching staff very unhappy, not sure if their yelling is doing any good for the Ducks

Pinson again for the Sun Devils to make it 16-13, Sun Devils are playing much improved after their performances in the first 2 sets.

Highmark sets Wilson for the kill, ASU holds a slim 10-8 lead. Wilson and Mendivil then block a UO attack to make it 11-8. Got to love the enthusiasm for an ASU team that is down 0-2 in the match.

Ducks march back to tie it at 6 before Malia Marquardt’s dominating kill propels ASU to 7-6.

Erica Wilson with a pair of kills to give ASU a 4-3 lead, and then its served into the net. Bummer.

After the break, Preach, Johnson, Highmark, Reaves, Mendivil, and Pinson on the court for ASU.

2nd set: The Sun Devils appear to remain confident heading into this 2nd set, they will have their hands full with the Ducks.

ASU getting absolutely eaten up by a lot of these UO hitters.

UO relentless on defense. These Ducks can defend attacks by Reaves, Mendivil, Marquardt, Wilson better than any time I can think of.

Wilson with a nice kill for ASU, now down 8-15. Markanovich with a wicked kill, but that’s all as UO sidesout.

Alexis Pinson sent in for Markanovich and she immediately gets a nice kill. Good to see from the walk on Pinson.

However, that’s about the only positive coming from the ASU side of the court.

OREGON dominates in set two, 25-12.

1st set: Erica Wilson gets things started for ASU with two kills, ASU leads 2-1.

ASU was off to a strong start, but UO knots this at 6-6, they are clearly a talented team.

Danica Mendivil with a kill for ASU to make it 8-7.

Sonja Markanovich slams the kill to pull ASU within two, 14-16. ASU struggling to defend UO’s wicked hitters (Bergsma and Meyers)

Mendivil’s nasty kill narrows the UO lead to 18-22.

Ducks claim the opening set 25-20 and lead 1-0.

Game Notes: The ASU volleyball team hopes to continue its strong play from last night’s 3-0 sweep of Oregon State tonight against No. 20 Oregon.

The Ducks (16-8, 4-8 Pac-10) wrap up their trip to the desert tonight against the Sun Devils (11-13, 5-6) after being swept 0-3 by UA Friday night.

UO has won seven of the last nine matches against ASU including a 3-1 victory over ASU earlier this season in Eugene.

It’s a homecoming of sorts for UO outside hitter Alaina Bergsma who hails from Chandler, Az. Bergsma has a nice crowd on hand cheering her on.
