The ASU volleyball team concludes play in the ASU Sheraton Invitational today with an afternoon match against UC Riverside. The Sun Devils (3-5) enter the day seeking to hold an above .500 record in the invite.
The Highlanders (1-7) won their first match of the season yesterday against High Point University. UC Riverside entered the ASU Sheraton Invitational without a victory in 2010.
Sun Devil Starting Lineup:
- Sonja Markanovich- Middle
- Cat Highmark- Setter
- Malia Marquardt- Outside
- Erica Wilson- Middle
- Sarah Johnson- Libero
- Sarah Reaves- Outside
- Ashley Kastl- Outside
ASU’s third and final match of the weekend is underway, it’s 2-2. ASU outside Ashley Kastl earns the kill to make it 11-8 Sun Devils.
The first set belongs to the Sun Devils. ASU wins the 1st set 25-21 over the Highlanders to take a 1-0 as we move to the second set.
After an impressive 1st set, ASU trails 2-6 here in the beginning of the 2nd. The Sun Devils are mounting a comeback as it is now a 11-12 game.
The Sun Devils once again overcome a deficit, they now lead 24-16 late in the 2nd set. ASU claims the 2nd set to lead 2-0.
The Sun Devils are fighting for the sweep here in the 3rd, ASU leads 11-5. it’s 19-15 ASU here at Wells Fargo Arena.
The ASU volleyball teams improves to 4-5 on the season with its 3-0 win over UC Riverside.
