The Arizona State Sun Devils will attempt to end a two-game losing streak, as they take on the Oregon State Beavers in what is a must-win game for both teams.
ASU (2-2) lost to the eleventh-ranked Wisconsin Badgers two weeks ago in Madison, and lost to the fourth-ranked Oregon Ducks last week in Tempe. Both games were very winnable, but mistakes and penalties led to ASU’s downfall in each one.
Oregon State (1-2) enters the month of October with a losing record for the seventh straight year under Mike Riley, but the Beavers’ two losses have come at the expense of the third-ranked Boise State Broncos, and the fifth-ranked Texas Christian Horned Frogs.
ASU’s defense will have its hands full for the third straight week, as they will attempt to slow down the Rodgers brothers, James and Jaquizz. Last season Jaquizz rushed for 1,440 yards with 21 touchdowns, while James amassed over 1,000 receiving yards. The Beavers could be without James, however, as he is questionable due to a concussion.
This is the first of three consecutive road games for ASU. The Sun Devils will be in Seattle next weekend to take on Washington, and Berkeley in three weeks to take on Cal. This road trip should play a critical role in determining ASU’s fate for bowl eligibility.
