The Territorial Cup Series kicks off tonight with the ASU volleyball team taking on the UA Wildcats in Tucson. The Sun Devils (5-9, 0-2 Pac-10) come to Tucson following a disappointing opening weekend of conference play.

ASU suffered two tough losses against No. 1 Stanford and No. 8 California. The Wildcats (10-4, 0-2 Pac-10) also were defeating by the Cardinal and Golden Bears last weekend.

The Territorial Cup Series battle between ASU and UA continues tonight!

In the series:

• ASU leads alltime: 40-38
• 2009 Record against UA: 0-2, lost 1-3 and 0-3
• ASU Record in Tucson: 11-13
• ASU coach Jason Watson’s rivalry record: 1-3

The fans are filing into the McKale Center, we will have live coverage all night of this Territorial Cup matchup.

The Sun Devils and Cats have taken the court, we are underway here in Tucson.

1st set: ASU will have to overcome an electric environment of UA fans. The Sun Devils trail 3-6 early here in the first set. It has been a sloppy game so far on both sides of the net.

Watson calls a timeout as his team trails 11-17. The Sun Devils have shown some life, and scored four points to make it 15-17.

After two tie scores at 18-18 and then 19-19, UA takes a 20-19 lead.

Well imagine that, another tie score. 21-21

With the score at 24-24, the official gives UA a point, saying Stephanie Preach did touch the ball as it went out. That is very very debatable from my view, which was directly in front and 3 feet from Preach.

The Sun Devils don’t come back, UA smacks another point to win the 1st set 26-24 over ASU.

2nd set: This set is another close one between the in-state rivals. The Sun Devils are forced to play catch up again. ASU has finds itself in a 13-17 hole.

UA has taken over at this point against ASU. The Sun Devils are down 18-23, only five points, but seem overmatched at times.

ASU loses the second set 19-25, UA leads the match 2-0.

3rd set: The break is over and we are back in action here at McKale. UA to serve to begin the third set.

ASU struggling mightily against the Wildcats, the Sun Devils trail 6-15. ASU timeout!

UA wins 25-12 to sweep ASU 3-0!
