Phoenix is about to get hot. Really hot.
But I’m not just talking about the record-breaking temperatures the city has seen over the past few years.
Zeds Dead is bringing the heat to the Rawhide Event Center on May 3 with their newest studio album, Return to the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness.
With their first full-length album in almost 10 years, the Canadian duo is ready to bring their unique sound back to Phoenix for a one-night event, featuring support from Tape B, Truth, Sippy and Don Jamal.
Dylan Mamid and Zachary Rapp-Rovan, who make up Zeds Dead, have been in the dubstep game since they formed the group in 2009 and have been growing a dedicated fan base ever since.
Their earliest days consisted of remixes on Myspace and YouTube, along with launching a weekly bass music event in Toronto named Bassmentality back in 2010. By mixing music as well as hosting events that bring artists and fans together, Mamid and Rapp-Rovan were able to boost their recognition while providing a platform for artists like Skrillex, who would go on to gain popularity even outside of the EDM community.
As their popularity grew, the two were playing huge music events like Ultra Music Festival as early as 2012. Since then they have played just about every major festival you can think of, including Coachella, Lollapalooza, EDC, Bonnaroo and more.
Another testament to Zeds Dead’s unwavering position in the world of EDM is the creation and success of their independent record label, Deadbeats. Much like their early underground events, their record label has been a space for many artists to grow their popularity and recognition worldwide. Some of the biggest names in dubstep are listed with the over 130 artists representing the label, including Subtronics, Rezz, GRiZ and many more. Of the supporting lineup, Tabe B, Truth and Sippy have all worked with Deadbeats and are now performing with the label founders, showcasing the duo’s support for their artists.
The number of Zeds Dead fans in Phoenix outweighed anticipation from show producer Relentless Beats, as general admission tickets sold out two weeks ahead of the show, leaving fans scrambling for secondhand tickets. VIP sold out shortly after, making this event a completely sold-out show.
Those still looking for a ticket can check websites like Ticketmaster for verified resale tickets or use the Radiate app to join a group chat for the event.
