Beach Bunny Brought the Beach to the Desert

The alternative band Beach Bunny lived up to their name during Sunday night’s show at  The Van Buren. Their stop on the Tunnel Vision Tour was packed with rain, crowd surfers, bunny ears, and a beach ball that bounced through the crowd all night long.

The group is best known for their songs “Prom Queen,” “Sports” and “Cloud 9” that went viral on TikTok between 2019 and 2021.

The first fans to arrive at the venue were Isabella Fassler, her dad and her best friend at 8 a.m.. Fassler and her dad had traveled from Nevada for the concert. Around 3:30 p.m., they saw the lead singer of Beach Bunny, Lili Trifilio walking to the building.

Trifilio met and took pictures with the fans in line, and received bracelets from fans for her and her fellow band members that Fassler had made for them.

“I was in so much shock because I didn’t expect to actually meet her at all, and I was legit shaking,” Fassler said.

Opening for Beach Bunny was an alternative rock group from Chicago called Scarlet Demore, and they owned the stage. They kept consistent energy throughout the entire show, and the crowd loved it. The crowd was moshing, crowd surfing and headbanging throughout their entire set.

They played some of their most popular songs like Spiked Seltzer and Lost Dawg, which kept the crowd fully immersed. To keep up with what they have coming next, check out their Instagram: @scarletdemore.

The venue roared when Beach Bunny finally came out and lit up the room with their setlist that contained a perfect mix of their older and newer music. While they performed, the crowd went wild. From screaming the lyrics to jumping around dancing, the fans did not let up once.

The most notable part of the night was the amount of crowd surfing. Whenever someone would go up in the air, everyone in the crowd would carry them all the way to the front near the stage where the security guards would grab them to make sure they landed safely, and then send them back off into the crowd. More than fifteen fans crowd surfed over the course of the night.

The true star of the night was The Van Buren security guard Nathan. The band’s lead singer even gave him a shout in-between songs for all he was doing. Whether it be catching the crowd surfers, handing out water to the crowd, or blocking the beach ball from getting on stage, Nathan and his fellow security guards were non-stop all night.

The encore included 6 Weeks, Prom Queen and Pain Killer. For the last song, she had the crowd split the room in half so there was space in the middle. Then, when the song began, everyone ran into the middle and started a mosh pit.

Even though the crowd was going crazy, crowd surfers still managed to make their way over the crowd, and the beach ball stayed alive. It was a great way to end the show, and was a concert that everyone in attendance will never forget.
