The Arizona State Sun Devils racked up their second loss of the season to the No. 13 TCU Horned Frogs on the road Sunday, Jan. 11, 77-46.

A Lack of communication, defense and low field goal percentages cost the Sun Devils (16-2, 3-2 Big 12) another loss in conference play. The Horned Frogs (16-1, 1-1 Big 12) took advantage of their significant height advantage over ASU while playing strong defense and offense.

TCU sophomore center Clara Silva, who stands at 6-foot-7, became a threat to the Sun Devils offense, constantly applying pressure. Silva put up 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Although the Sun Devils tallied 22 defensive rebounds, the squad struggled to score efficiently.

ASU finished the game shooting at 29% compared to TCU’s 55%.

The usually reliable senior guard Marley Washenitz, who throughout the season has been a top contributor in points for the Sun Devils, shot 0-7 from the field and 0-5 from beyond the arc.

Adding insult to injury, Washentiz fouled out.

Filling ASU’s offensive void, graduate student Gabby Elliot put up 19 points and seven rebounds. Elliot has been consistent throughout the season and leads the team in points.

The Sun Devils came out slow against the quick TCU offense, but kept the Horned Frogs within a point at the end of the first quarter.

Although halfway through the second quarter, the Horned Frogs had the game in their hands.

TCU held an 11-point advantage over ASU with five minutes left of the quarter and never looked back.

Graduate student Olivia Miles fueled the Horned Frogs' effort, as she nailed 22 points and went 3-5 on 3-pointers.

After a tough battle in the first half, it never got easier for the Sun Devils.

The Horned Frogs scored 42 points in the second half alone.

The Sun Devils will look ahead to regroup before the squad takes on the Kansas Jayhawks at home.
