In the past few years, a movement in women’s sports has led to younger athletes competing on the national or international stage, and succeeding at that high level against players much older than them. Traditionally, athletes in sports such as basketball and volleyball waited until after their collegiate careers ended to begin their professional careers. However, sports such as soccer, swimming, and tennis have thrown that tradition out the window. Now, athletes as young as 12 are competing on the Olympic stage, contributing to the youth movement that is sweeping through female sports.

Recently the NBA approved a new “Player Participation Policy.” This was to ensure that multiple “star” players weren’t being sat out due to “load management.” A player is deemed a “star” player by the NBA if they have been named to an All-NBA team or an All-Star team in the past three seasons. This is to promote more players to play the full 82-game season. Under the NBA’s new regulations, there are 49 current players that fall under the “star” category. Teams that violate this new policy will be fined $100,000 for their first offense, $250,000 for their second, and $1 million for any violation that continues. This is an issue that the NBA had been dealing with for years as many players were being sat out for various non-health related reasons.

The center position may have the most complex history of any position in the NBA, from utterly dominant, to obsolete, to revolutionary. It typically serves as the position of the biggest, tallest, or strongest player on the court. At the beginning, though there were big, tall, and strong players, this didn’t mean much. The players were still figuring out how exactly to play this newfangled game in an infant league, and weren’t exactly sure how to utilize the center position.

Vikings @ Eagles: The Minnesota Vikings are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team that had a season-long over/under win total of 6.5, tied for the third lowest in the NFL. If Baker Mayfield can game manage his way to a victory against this Vikings defense, one must assume that superstars Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown will be able to do the same. Kirk Cousins is notorious for playing significantly worse in primetime games, with a career record of 12-20 in those games. The Vikings also were an outlier last year when it comes to winning close games as well, going 11-0 in one score games, the best record in NFL history in such situations, and based on what we have seen so far, the Philadelphia Eagles should be able to easily handle this Minnesota Vikings team. Vikings 17, Eagles 30

As Joe Jonas emotionally cried out the lyrics of his and his brothers’ 2019 song “Hesitate,” it was clear that this stop on the Jonas Brothers’ international tour, dubbed “The Tour,” felt different for all three of the former Disney Channel stars on stage. The song, written mainly by Joe himself, was written as a dedication song to his wife, “Game of Thrones” actress Sophie Turner. The song was a hallmark of the brothers’s return to the spotlight in 2019 and how all three were now married men, even while most of their discography was written while they were teenagers. But it was clear that Joe was genuinely hesitating, to put it lightly, in singing this typically emotional ballad to fans at the Footprint Center in downtown Phoenix last Wednesday night.
