The “Prince of Darkness” Ozzy Osbourne Dead at 76

The trailblazer of heavy metal music and lead singer of legendary band Black Sabbath died in the U.K. on Tuesday. His family announced his death in a statement, but details surrounding his death have not been disclosed.

Osbourne suffered from many health problems, including Parkinson's disease, which was exacerbated by his past drug usage. Along with having Parkinsonism, Osbourne suffered multiple injuries in 2003 due to a quad bike accident. The accident resulted in a broken collarbone, eight fractured ribs, and a vertebra in his neck.

Osbourne reunited this year with the original members of Black Sabbath on July 5 and gave his final concert earlier this month in Birmingham, England. He sat on a black throne and performed hits , such as "I Don't Know" and "Mama I'm Coming Home.”

During his celebrated life, Osbourne also had a hit MTV reality show, “The Osbournes,” where fans witnessed Osbourne’s role as a family man. The show was widely popular and inspired other celebrities to start filming and sharing their everyday lives.

Ozzy Osbourne married Sharon Osbourne in 1982, and they had three children, Aimee, Kelly and Jack Osbourne. Osbourne also leaves behind three other children from a previous marriage to Thelma Riley: Jessica Starshine Osbourne, Louis Osbourne and Elliot Kingsley.

Osbourne’s “Prince of Darkness” nickname wasn’t random. He earned the title because he long embodied a dark persona that got him into quite a few controversies, such as sprinkling audiences with raw meat and, most notably, biting the head off of a bat. The “Prince of Darkness” is survived by his wife, Sharon, and his six children.
