No. 7 ASU Volleyball Continues to Dominate Big 12, Defeat Utah 3-1

SALT LAKE CITY- Arizona State Volleyball defeated Utah for the second time in October. This time, the Devils travelled to Salt Lake City and won 3-1.

Arizona State extended its current win streak to 10 games. The Sun Devils' current conference win streak is now at 23, dating back to last year.

Senior outside hitter Bailey Miller recorded her 1,000th career kill against the Utes as she continues her team’s quest for their second straight Big 12 title.

In the last matchup between these two Big 12 foes, Arizona State received its Big 12 championship rings from the 2024 season. ASU followed up the ceremony with a dominant 3-0 sweep of the Utes.

With the advantage of home court and motivation for revenge, Utah played Arizona State closer this time around.

The first set was highly contested, with each side going on mini runs back and forth. Arizona State prevailed, scoring four straight to win the first set.

Junior outside hitter Noemie Glover and junior middle blocker Ella Lomigora combined for the set point block.

Lomigora finished the game with three blocks, and Glover finished with six blocks.

Glover continued her hot kill streak by notching her seventh double-digit kill game. She achieved 10 kills by the end of the second set.

Despite runs from Utah, Arizona State closed out the second set 25-22.

The Utes were determined to keep the game going in the third set. Utah jumped out to a lead behind a 5-0 run and never looked back. The set had only two ties and one lead change.

Utah sophomore outside hitter Neea Maria Joki was a standout for the Utes. She had a game-high 18 kills on a .412 hit percentage.

Utah outside hitter Kamryn Gibaldo had 12 kills, an improvement from the last time she played the Sun Devils, where she had just four kills.

ASU’s blocking was still on point for this game, as Gibaldo had just a .121 hit percentage and the Utes tallied a .243 hit percentage for the game.

The Maroon and Gold closed out the Utes by notching their largest set victory, 25-20.

The fourth set saw ASU continue its efficient attack, which it has implemented all season. Their final set hit percentage was 0.500. Utah did not record a single block in the fourth quarter.

The match point was won by Glover, who blocked Gibaldo’s attack. For the second time this season, Gibaldo was slowed down, and Glover won the matchup between the two star outside hitters.

Senior outside hitter Tatum Parrot also recorded double-digit kills with 10. This was her sixth time doing so this season.

With three of Arizona State’s hitters scoring double-digit kills, the Sun Devils showed their depth and experience in the front line once again.

Arizona State continues its road trip and looks to continue the conference win streak against rival Arizona in Tucson on Oct. 25.
