Arizona State faced a fall matchup against Grand Canyon University in two five-inning games.
The Sun Devils dropped game one 4-0 but bounced back with a win in game two 3-0.
Senior pitcher Aissa Silva of ASU and the Lopes, sophomore pitcher Oakley Vickers started the game and started well, with the first two innings being scoreless.
Until GCU broke the game open in the third with a three-run inning, thanks to an RBI double from Senior outfielder Sydney McCray and a two-run home run from sophomore designated hitter Jada Cooper.
The Sun Devils struggled on offense, only piling up three hits the whole game.
The Lopes added on another run in the fifth, thanks to a bases-loaded hit by pitch by Graduate Senior Trinity Martin. ASU was unable to score a run, and its defense struggled, allowing two errors that led to runs.
Game two was a pitching matchup between GCU Junior pitcher Maggie Place and the Sun Devils' freshman pitcher Mary Peyton Hodge.
No runs were scored through the first two innings again, but this time ASU struck first, as sophomore outfielder Ashleigh Mejia struck a single through the hole, scoring the first run.
The following inning, freshman utility player JazMarie Roberts roped a double in the right-center gap, off of freshman Lilly Camp, bringing two runs in.
The Sun Devils shut out the Lopes on offense as pitchers Hodge and Junior Meika Lauppe combined for two strikeouts and two hits allowed.
