Death Grips is back online

After seven years of radio silence following their 2018 release “Year of the Snitch,” Death Grips have announced via Instagram that they are back in the studio recording new music.

The group, known for their evasiveness and long periods of reclusion, dropped the surprise announcement much to the bewilderment of their fans. The news came via an unannounced post to their Instagram account on Nov. 5, 2025.

Accompanying several photos of a recording studio, the post’s caption reads:

“The writing and recording of our next album is underway. We’re looking forward to the new Death Grips record.

-Stefan and Zach”

The announcement follows years of speculation and far-fetched theories in desperation for new material. These types of posts peaked amidst the band’s 2023 tour, in which the group debuted new instrumental tracks before their shows, seemingly hinting at new material.

These theories, however, have not been limited to just music. There has been much speculation as to the status of band member and producer Andy Morin, who previously claimed Death Grips had broken up over leaked Instagram DMs. The other two members, MC Ride and Zach Hill disputed this claim in an Instagram post, insisting Death Grips is still active. This, coupled with comments from collaborator and touring musician Nick Reinhardt have led fans to believe that Morin is no longer engaged with Death Grips.

Despite these rumors, fans of the group can now rest easy knowing that new material is on the way, no matter the current lineup of the band. As a group that has found online fame for continuously reinventing themselves and pushing boundaries, fans now look on with bated breath as a new chapter of Death Grips begins.
