BLAZE RADIO SPORTS WRITING SEES DRAMATIC UPTICK IN ARTICLES PUBLISHED

CHICAGO (JAN. 8, 2026) — Blaze Radio ASU Sports Editor-in-Chief Wyatt Baumeyer announced today that the department saw a 287% increase in articles published during the fall 2025 semester.

Blaze Sports published 209 articles in the fall of 2025, up from 54 the previous spring.

“The growth we’ve seen is amazing,” Baumeyer said. “From the situation my editors and I had in August of 2025 to today, we can proudly say the sports writing department is alive and well.”

This increase comes on the heels of expanded coverage of Arizona State athletics. Blaze Radio sent writers to 20 volleyball, 18 basketball, 14 NCHC hockey, 11 football and nine soccer games in addition to countless remote coverage opportunities.

“We’ve just hit the surface with our coverage,” Baumeyer said. “It’s been a great start, but we have our eyes set on bigger goals. By the end of 2026, we want to expand our outreach beyond just the website. We have talented writers, and we want to highlight their abilty.”
