From America’s Got Talent to first solo tour, Alex Sampson brought it all to Phoenix

PHOENIX – Alex Sampson came to the Valley on Feb. 8 and performed at The Rebel Lounge with special guests Maryjo and Rikki Lumi.

Rikki Lumi opened the show with both released and unreleased songs. The crowd went wild once Lumi started singing “blue eyes” and “sun & moon.”

Lumi released her first single on Oct. 30, 2025, and has since released three other songs. Her most recent song dropped on Feb. 10 and is called “purr.”

Maryjo kept the crowd hyped with her songs, performing some released and some unreleased material.  Her outgoing personality made some parents in the crowd laugh when she said that she was going to skip the parts where there were bad words.

Maryjo first started posting on TikTok and later appeared on American Idol in 2021 and made it all the way to the semifinals. Since then, she has been opening concerts for artists.

Maryjo mentioned that she will reappear on American Idol on Feb. 16.

During the Phoenix show, Maryjo sang her famous songs like “Don’t Call Me” and “Still Into You.”

Most of the crowd started singing some of her heartbreaking songs like “Love To Hate Me” and “Living Room.”

Bennett Woolsey is also on tour as Maryjo’s guitarist, and he played his song named “Used to You with Maryjo.” Woolsey was previously in a band called Brookside, who were brought to fame with their song “Jimmy the Chameleon.”

Woolsey, now based in Los Angeles, has released some songs like his single “Tsunami,” combining his voice with his talent to play the guitar.

Rikki Lumi, Maryjo and Bennett Woolsey are all supporting Alex on his first solo tour. Each of these artists have a promising future ahead of them.

Alex Sampson first appeared on America’s Got Talent, captivating the audience with his original song “Pretty Baby.”

All of the judges were impressed with the talent that Sampson had. Some even pointed out how his songs had that old-school feel to them, and had a great melody without using any explicit words in these songs.

Sampson went all the way to the semifinals of America’s Got Talent and was eliminated because he did not receive enough votes to make it into the final round.

After Sampson left AGT, he released more songs like “Lost In New York” and “Growing Pains.” He was also able to open up concerts for Jaime Miller and Alexander Stewart.

The venue was crowded and once Alex came on stage at around 9:25 p.m., starting with “Used To You,” followed by “Friend Zone,” the crowd was excited to see him perform in Arizona.

When Alex sang “Growing Pains,” the audience surprised him with raising paper hearts with writing that read, “We Grew With You.”

Once Alex noticed it, he joked by saying, “You guys see me cry one time, and now you try to make it happen at every show.”

The crowd cheered him on and Alex tried to hide his emotions, but he was touched to see many people supporting him.

When Alex started to sing “Pretty Baby,” a fan asked if he could sing with him, and Alex said yes. That was when Jared Ragsdale went on stage and shocked everyone, including Alex.

Ragsdale’s voice complimented the song so well that they ended up singing the song together. At the end of the song, Alex gave Ragsdale his guitar pick.

Alex lit up the crowd throughout the whole show, but when he sang his unreleased song which is coming out on Feb. 13,  titled, “Not Even Gone,” everyone was swaying back and forth.

Alex continued with his last two songs, “Wallflower” and “BLIND,” leaving the crowd wanting more.

Alex is just starting his tour and everyone wants him back to their cities.
