PHOENIX – NASCAR rescheduled the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray to Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the wake of historic snowfall in Winston-Salem and throughout North Carolina.

The season-opening exhibition race will now take place midway with practice and qualifying at 1:30 p.m. EST. The Last Chance Qualifier is set for 4:30 p.m. EST with the main event broadcast live on FOX at 6 p.m. EST.

This will be the first weekday race since the 2020 season. Project Lead for the Cook Out Clash, Justin Swilling, addressed the schedule change during a press release on Sunday afternoon.

“Moving the Cook Out Clash to Wednesday, Feb. 4 gives us the best opportunity to hold this event with fans at Bowman Gray Stadium while allowing the City of Winston-Salem to dedicate all of their resources to respond to the needs created by this historic weather,” Swilling said.

NASCAR continues to collaborate with the City of Winston-Salem and the North Carolina Department of Transportation following the impacts of historic winter weather.

“This event is for the fans,” Swilling said. “And the fans at The Madhouse are some of the most passionate fans in all of sports.”

According to WXII 12, snowfall on Saturday totaled 11 inches in Winston-Salem. The snowstorm that swept through North Carolina was the largest storm since 2018.

Parking lots will begin operating on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. with gates opening at 12:30 p.m.
