PHOENIX – NASCAR rescheduled the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium from Sunday, Feb. 1, to Monday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. EST after heavy snowstorms hit Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The Clash – already shortened to a single-day event earlier in the week – will now take place Monday evening with qualifying at 11 a.m. EST and a Last Chance Qualifier at 4:30 p.m. EST.

This is the first national series race to be postponed due to weather since the 2024 season.

Justin Swilling, NASCAR’s senior director of marketing services and overseer of The Clash, held a teleconference Saturday morning to announce the postponement.

“The number one concern is always the safety of our competitors and our fans getting to and from the track,” Swilling said in a statement from NASCAR. “We didn’t feel that a Sunday schedule was best suited anymore.

“We wanted to do our best to try to keep people off the road and let them know sooner rather than later.”

According to NBC News, up to 8 inches of snow could fall across North Carolina, prompting officials to issue a winter storm warning. FOX Sports reporter Box Pockrass shared a photo on X that showed 3 inches of snow already on the ground in the Winston-Salem area.

As for clearing the track, Swilling expects to get the track race-ready when the storm clears.

“We have a tremendous amount of equipment here,” Swilling said. “And we have an incredible staff here that’s helping to manage all the equipment and helping to prioritize what needs to be taken care of first versus second versus third. And I feel very confident in our game plan.”

Parking lots begin operating Monday at 9 a.m. with gates opening at 10 a.m.
