TEMPE, Ariz. – Seniors shined the brightest in their last game at Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium.
Arizona State lacrosse (7-7, 2-1 Big 12) rallied in a 19-11 victory over UC Davis (7-6, 2-1 Big 12) to celebrate senior day Saturday, April 11.
Going into the matchup against the Aggies, ASU was coming off a victory over Cincinnati that ended a four-game losing streak.
The Sun Devils came out to a hot start and took a 12-4 lead into halftime.
While ASU was the more dominant team in the first half, the Aggies’ defense stepped up in the second half and held the Sun Devils to seven goals over the third and fourth quarters.
“We’ve got to lock in for a full 60 minutes,” head coach Taryn VanThof Puls said.
The ASU lacrosse squad consists of eight seniors, all of whom have made an impact on the team's success.
“This group is special,” VanThof Puls said. “Just the growth and the commitment and the hard work they’ve put in, and it was showcased today in every moment.”
Three seniors found the back of the net, combining for 10 goals. The trio consisted of attackers Lydia Oldknow, Jordyn Behar and Teagan Ng.
“They’ve rewritten the record books left and right from freshman year campaigns to senior standouts,” VanThof Puls said. “They’ve done a phenomenal job.”
The big three are all program record holders.
Oldknow currently holds the program record point-scoring streak with 51 games dating back to her 2024 season, as well as the second-most career goals of all time.
Behar holds the program's single-season assist record, setting it in 2025 with 65 assists. Also in 2025, Behar became the first Sun Devil to tally 100 or more points in a single season.
Ng, who scored five goals against UC Davis, is ASU’s all-time goal leader as well as the first Sun Devil to notch 70 goals in a single season .
“Teagan (Ng) is always up for a challenge,” VanThof Puls said. “The kid gives you everything she has.”
Ng currently leads the team in goals this season with 54, with Oldknow right behind her.
“From their freshman year, they’ve led this group and really shown what hard work it takes,” VanThof Puls said.
The final three games of the season are on the road for the Sun Devils, who will look to overcome their road struggles this year and finish with a winning record.
“There are going to be highs and lows,” VanThof Puls said. “And how we respond and how we continue to climb and get better week after week, day after day is what’s most important.”
