Subtronics hosts historic six-night residency at LA's Shrine Auditorium in celebration of his new album “Fibonacci Pt 2: Infinity”

Jesse Kardon, better known as Subtronics, had a monumental year in 2025. He has been busy releasing collaborations with A list artists like John Summit, and curating his own festivals and experiences across the country like the two-day Cyclops Desert that took place in Chandler this summer.

He has even already been named Dubstep Artist of the Year by EDM Awards for the third consecutive year. Kardon also had some of the most memorable performances of the year such as his back to back set with Excision at Lost Lands and a Las Vegas residency at Encore Beach Club. At this year’s EDC Orlando Kardon received both a headlining set as well as a “Leveltronics” set featuring his wife, Sonya Broner known as LEVEL UP, at EDC Orlando.

Among all of the events and accolades over the last 12 months, Subtronics still found time to create an intricate 18 track album titled “Fibonacci.  The first disc released as an EP titled Fibonacci Pt 1: Oblivion on April 4, delivering immediate fan favorites like “Lock In” and "Final Breath” featuring UK vocalist A Little Sound.  Kardon left fans in anticipation for months as summer came and went without an update.

Then, on Oct. 6, Subtronics released a post on his Instagram page announcing that “Fibonacci Pt 2: Infinity” would arrive on Dec. 5, coinciding with the fourth night of his highly anticipated residency at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Although he has since deleted the post, the announcement set off a wave of anticipation among fans.

What began as a weekend string of shows quickly expanded into a six-night run at The Shrine with each added date selling out in minutes. Tuesday, Dec. 2 was the last date added to the schedule but scheduling logistics made it the opening night of the historic run that saw over 30,000 cumulative attendees.

Before Subtronics’s performance, opening support artists Capshun, Austeria and Cesco set the tone for the night ahead. The stage for each show was constructed in the center of the venue to create a 360-degree viewing experience that allowed a more intimate and immersive connection between each DJ and the sea of fans surrounding them.

Capshun began the night with a heavily trap oriented performance that awoke those who were braving the cold to be some of the first fans inside.  The culminating moment of his set arrived when he played the new ISOxo smash hit, “F— THE SPEAKERZ UP” which created nothing short of a frenzy in the moshpit.

Austeria quickly shifted the energy in the room with her extremely dark original midtempo tracks that were reminiscent of horror scores. Songs like “Karmic Retribution” featuring Level Up left the crowd mesmerized. The deep bass and dramatic echoes bounced all over The Shrines high ceilings and cavernous cathedral-like walls, encapsulating a completely hypnotized audience.

Hailing from Venice, Italy, drum and bass artist Cesco played the role of direct support on Tuesday. As the lasers kicked into gear and began flashing along the balcony above, Cesco displayed his signature UK Garage sound, mixing in collaborations with big names such as Hamdi and Halogenix.

As the 5,000 dubstep faithful filled up the once barren venue, it was time for Subtronics to take the stage.  He opened his set with an all new fresh flip of his track “Oblivion” the title track from Fibonacci Pt 1: Oblivion, and almost immediately a maze of lights and lasers filled the dancefloor. The lighting production featured layers of lasers just above the audience rising to the ceiling and in all directions creating a truly immersive moment for attendees.

Blending newer tunes with classic hits, Subtronics maintained a wide variety while keeping his cards close to his chest for night one, saving the bulk of the “Fibonacci Pt 2” showcase for later in the week. That being said, he did drop the album’s lead single, “Got Away,” featuring fellow dubstep DJ ILLENIUM as well as singer/songwriter Royal & The Serpent as it was released on streaming platforms. He also brought pop icon Skylar Grey on stage to perform their 2024 collab track, “I’ll Wait For You” which also includes DJ Seven Lions

As is the case with all Subtronics sets, while the night was concluding Kardon grabbed the microphone and gave a quick speech to those who made it to the historic first night.  A major advocate for safety, he reminded fans to look out for one another in the community and ensured everyone stayed hydrated before wishing them a safe trip home. With just minutes left in his set, Subtronics dropped one final ID: his remix of John Summit’s "Crystalized,” a track that has exploded in popularity and is fast becoming a staple in both artists' discographies.

While night one may have set the bar, it was just the start for the Subtronics Shrine residency.  On Night 2, he brought out ILLENIUM, Royal & The Serpent and Grabbitz during his set.  Night 4 saw Marshmello brought out as the special guest before Subtronics tragically broke his ankle on stage.

Seemingly unphased, Kardon had his ankle taped up by his staff and even received a pair of crutches while still on stage, refusing to stop the show. He continued putting on a stellar performance, dancing and mixing live to finish the set on one leg. The next evening, fresh off getting a real cast at the hospital, Subtronics hosted SLANDER as the night's special guests.

For the culmination of one of the longest continuous run of shows in the venue's storied history, Jesse had one more massive surprise planned for night 6. He brought out LEVEL UP and Wooli for a b3b (back-to-back-to-back) “Dingus” set to close out the wild string of shows.

Between the wacky mishaps, special guests, intimate experiences with fans and new music, the Subtronics residency at the Shrine was nothing short of marvelous chaos. The perfectly imperfect string of events made a lasting impact on those who were lucky enough to witness it as well as those who caught a glimpse over social media.

Arizona EDM fans won't have to wait long to see the leader of the Cyclops Army once again take the stage. Subtronics returns to the Valley later this month as a headlining artist at Decadence Arizona on Dec. 30 and 31.  He is set to perform on the mainstage alongside industry legends like FISHER and Zedd at Phoenix Raceway to ring in the new year.
