Vice President Kamala Harris made a stop on the campaign trail in Arizona today. The rally, held at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, was attended by a crowd of approximately 20,000. This is one of the first stops Harris has made since selecting her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota on Monday. Harris received the official nomination from the Democratic Party earlier this week, making her the party’s official presidential candidate.

Arizona senator Kyrsten Sinema has changed her party affiliation. Formerly a member of the Arizona Democratic party, Sinema has announced that she feels her viewpoints are better represented by the bi-partisan Independent Party. This switch comes following a recent disconnect between Sinema and the Democratic Party on multiple issues, primarily related to the government spending budget. Sinema has been critiqued by Democrats and those on the left for opposing an end to the filibuster and voting against social spending packages.
