PHOENIX - After falling to Ohio State on Thursday, Friday’s matchup saw a rejuvenated ASU lineup led by the offense excellency fans were accustomed to. On the other side of the ball, Thomas Burns would tally another solid performance on the bump and the bullpen would showcase quality innings of work, a hopeful indication that the bullpen troubles late in games may have just been arms shaking off the rust . With the series split at one apiece, both sides would be hungry for the win in Saturday’s afternoon contest.

PHOENIX - Ohio State, despite poor offensive production entering the series, shook ASU to their core in the series opener Thursday night 11-4. What had many people confused was the absence of Arizona State’s potent bats that they had seen last weekend. The only player to collect more than one hit was Steven Ondina in the nine hole. If ASU wanted to bounce back in Game 2, they would need to assert their dominance at the dish.

PHOENIX - Ben Jacobs has been the bright spot in ASU’s bullpen so far. In his four and a third innings of work, Jacobs has posted a 2.08 ERA with seven strikeouts and just one walk. He’s accumulated much success with his fastball, so much so that on Thursday night Willie Bloomquist would tab the young arm with the start versus Ohio State.

In 2023, Tempe’s annual Innings Festival welcomed one of the best music festival lineups I’ve seen in a while. From big rock and roll names like Green Day, Weezer, The Offspring and Eddie Vedder to folk artists like Marcus Mumford, Mt. Joy and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, the 2023 installment of the concert-on-a-baseball-field was being labeled a classic before the stars even took the stage.
